Speaking at Hosanna Mega Church International, Bishop Colby explained that true transformation takes time. He said it is unrealistic to expect people who are new to the faith to immediately abandon habits such as drinking alcohol or adultery. According to him, growth in Christ is a gradual journey, not an overnight event.

He reminded the church that every believer starts their walk with God at a different point. Therefore, leaders and congregations must guide new converts with love, teaching, and understanding. When churches rush people or judge them too harshly, they often push them away instead of helping them grow.

Bishop Colby also warned against a culture that punishes or ignores believers who struggle with sin. He explained that this approach forces people to hide their challenges, which leads to hypocrisy rather than genuine change. Instead, he encouraged openness, accountability, and consistent spiritual support.

At the same time, the bishop highlighted the importance of beginnings. He said first actions matter because they shape future outcomes. However, he stressed that good beginnings must be supported with patience and grace.

“How you start matters a lot,” Bishop Colby said, urging believers to be intentional while remaining compassionate. He emphasized that spiritual maturity develops step by step and that the church must walk alongside new believers throughout the process.

His message has sparked discussion among Christians, especially as churches continue to reflect on how best to balance discipline, grace, and growth in modern faith communities.
